If I had to describe Orlando All Star Weekend 2012 in one word it would be, LEGENDARY. And since I am going through withdrawals this weekend, I thought I would relive it by posting all about it.
The NBA Jam Session took place at the Orange County Convention Center and was jam packed with all sorts of NBA events. Colleen and I both volunteered our time out there. Colleen got to hang out on the taco bell skills challenge courts while I helped run the autograph line for Kemba Walker at the Sprint Courts. We both got to interact with many fans all of which were so happy and excited to be partaking in all of these jam sessions events. It was pretty much like basketball heaven in there! There were many sponsored courts holding all sorts of contests, NBA history on display including the championship trophy, autograph signings, shows, slam dunk contests, cooking displays, and the list goes on and on! The best part to me was how affordable it was so all NBA fans could experience the All Star Weekend fun.
If you were anywhere near downtown Orlando this past weekend, you saw the thousands of people who hit our streets. If you weren’t, you missed quite a good time! On Saturday night while Colleen was at the Skills Challenge, Lisa and I hung out on Church Street with a lot of other NBA fans. Everyone was so welcoming! I didn’t see an argument or fight my entire time downtown. Everyone was enjoying adult beverages, taking in the scenery, and dancing like fools!
The actual All-Star game was an unbelievable experience for me. I scored good seats right behind the basket and got to watch all of my favorite players at one time. The vibe in the Amway Center was unexplainable. I think everyone was in awe of all the talent on the courts! The first quarter was like our own slam dunk contest and the half time show was a crazy concert I hadn’t experienced in a very long time. Nicki Minaj, Chris Brown, Pitbull, Ne-Yo all showed up! Of course lots of celebrities were in attendance for the game from Lil Wayne to Apolo Anton Ohno to Drake and a ton more! After the game we made our way upstairs to Gentleman Jacks for the Turner Sports Party where we hung out with Chris Webber, Charles Barkley, Dennis Scott, Steve Smith and other NBA greats. It was an absolute blast! After Gentleman Jacks, we made our way to Grey Goose 180 where NBA legened Dr. Julius Erving was hanging out!
Overall that weekend we met great people, made great friends, and enjoyed the NBA hosting this event in our city very much! Your Ladyballers got to cross a lot of things off of our bucketlists' and spend time with fellow NBA enthusistis!
We are already planning our Houston 2013 trip!
