All-Star Weekend Is Here!

It's here: Orlando All-Star Weekend! Let the madness begin...

This is my first All-Star weekend and I have no idea what to expect. My packed schedule kicks off tonight as I am attending orientation for the 2012 NBA All-Star Jam Session all week. I am working a private event tomorrow night which is rumored to be a Magic

season ticket holder event, Thursday afternoon, Saturday morning and Sunday afternoon. I am looking forward to meeting pumped fans and all those attending from celebrities, players to sports professionals.

Featured Foundation: The Tim Tebow Foundation

Sports fans always have diverse feelings on Tim Tebow as a football player, but one thing you can not deny is his admiration to help people.

Tebow

When Tebow still played college football for the Florida Gators, NCAA rules did not allow him to start his own foundation. Some people would have seen that roadblock and stopped, but not Tim. He partnered up with the school and several other UF students and started: First and 15. This UF Student Government is still active on the UF campus and now raises money for several charites, including our feature foundation, The Tim Tebow Foundation.

Featured Tweeter: @athletesvcancer

In keeping with our Relay for Life fundraising effort, this week's Featured Tweeter is @athletesvcancer. Athletes vs. Cancer is the Orlando Magic's Matt Barnes's Foundation which he started after losing his mother to the disease in 2007. Athletes vs. Cancer is committed to raising awareness and funds for cancer research.

Cancer in Our Lives

As you may have noticed, the LadyBallers will be participating in the Downtown Orlando Relay for Life event coming up this May. I have taken the lead for our LB Team as cancer has greatly impacted various members of my family and friends. We feel that this is an important event and an important cause.

To give you a bit of info about the event if you are unfamiliar, Relay for Life benefits the American Cancer Society. Relay is "a life-changing event that gives everyone in communities across the globe a chance to celebrate the lives of people who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost, and fight back against the disease. At Relay, teams of people camp out at a local high school, park, or fairground and take turns walking or running around a track or path. Each team is asked to have a representative on the track at all times during the event. Because cancer never sleeps, Relays are overnight events and 18 hours in length." It will be a challenge for us, but a challenge worthy of our efforts and energy.

Charity Rocks! LadyBallers Get Their Event Love On!

The LadyBallers attended their inaugural community event since our site has been launched this past Thursday and it was a huge success. We attended the Kevin Holden Celebrity Fashion & Jewelry Show to raise money for The Kerosene Lamp Foundation (KLF) and Susan G.
