NBA All-Star Orlando 2012

If I had to describe Orlando All Star Weekend 2012 in one word it would be, LEGENDARY. And since I am going through withdrawals this weekend, I thought I would relive it by posting all about it.

All Star

The NBA lockout is still going on, WHACK! But basketball will still be going down in Orlando. The UCF Knights kicked off the season on Nov 5th against West VA Tech!

AJNow, AJ isn't just a UCF basketball player, he is one of the most positive people I have ever encountered! His twitter account is a must follow (@A3Rompza) filled with positive anecdotes, tweets of determination and of course some comical relief but the boys got skills! If you haven't seen this its a must watch! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fYjOScGcGps

In a sports world filled with cocky players, players getting arrested or doing anything other then playing the game they love, it was refreshing to come across such a young, vibrant, and talented player with such a positive outlook on life and a true love for the game. He nevers takes a day for granted and reminded me to do the same, AJ thank you for your inspiration! GO KNIGHTS!

I feel Chris Paul is one of the most talented, honorable, humble point guards in the NBA. Fun fact, did you know he was in People's 100 Most Beautiful People list back on 2006 AND GQ's Men of Year in 2008? You wouldn't be able to tell from his humbleness i know. On top of that he spends his time off with his son whom he adores as well as raising money for the community he grew up in.

Wimble-done: Oh My!

Over in Wimbledon, England both Serena and Venus Williams were both eliminated from the competition!

Serena

I am someone who doesn't really follow tennis religiously, but after a trip to the mens US Open finals a few years ago, I learned why this sport is so addicting.

Featured Foundation: The Tim Tebow Foundation

Sports fans always have diverse feelings on Tim Tebow as a football player, but one thing you can not deny is his admiration to help people.

Tebow

When Tebow still played college football for the Florida Gators, NCAA rules did not allow him to start his own foundation. Some people would have seen that roadblock and stopped, but not Tim. He partnered up with the school and several other UF students and started: First and 15. This UF Student Government is still active on the UF campus and now raises money for several charites, including our feature foundation, The Tim Tebow Foundation.

Dallas Mavericks are Champs!

As soon as Game 6 of the NBA finals was over and the Mavs were the champs I shot up a quick thank you to the basketball gods for making all things right in the basketball world!

It was my love for fellow LadyBaller, Alexis, and my hate for the Miami Heat that had me cheering and routing for the Mavs during this season. I learned more and more about the Mavs are realized what everyone meant when they said they are a real team.

They have a true veteran lineup with players like 17 year baller Jason Kidd, 10 year veteran JET Terry and 13 year, 10 time NBA Allstar, Dirk Nowitzki.

Lakers: 0-4??

The NBA playoffs this season are the most unpredictable playoffs I can ever remember watching. I would not take bets on who are going to be in the finals because it’s just impossible to predict. If you were to tell me the NBA's career leading coach in playoff winnings, Phil Jackson, and his team the LA Lakers were going to get swept in the second round of the NBA playoffs to the Dallas Mavericks I would have laughed in your face. Next thing you know you are going to tell me the United States found and killed Bin Laden...

Stay Dwight!

Dwight

Very recently a website and facebook fan page called StayDwight.com was started to encourage Orlando Magic center and superstar to stay in Orlando after his contract expires and I couldn't agree more! Howard's current contract runs through the 2012-13 season, but he could utilize an early termination option and become a free agent after next season.

Dwight has not only given new life to the Orlando Magic as a team, but he as also done so much for the city of Orlando. He is one of the most active members of the Magic within the community. Dwight is always donating time and money to children and families all around the city. He has won the Community Enrichment Award *five* times in the past six years and has his own non-profit organization, the D12 Foundation. His heart seems as big as his stature!

Final Four

VCUHow insane is this seasons Final Four matchup?!?!

For the first time since 1979, the Final Four is without a number one or number two seed! After giving one of the biggest upsets to Kansas, VCU is in its first EVER Final Four appearance. This hits a little bit closer to home for me because point guard Joey Rodriguez graduated from my rival high school Lake Howell right outside of Orlando.

Rebecca Lobo: Women Sports Pioneer

Growing up, I had a dream to play for the University of Connecticut. This was heavily influenced by my family's ties to the state of Connecticut, my dad's love for UCONN, and great influential players like Rebecca Lobo. I felt it necessary to pay tribute to one of the greatest professional women athletes who made a huge impact on women in sports.Lobo

Growing up, I remember watching her play and thinking, "yeah girls can be good at basketball, really really good!" She helped lead the Huskies to an undefeated season and an NCAA championship. Not only was she great at basketball, she earned American honors for her academics as well.
